iPhone Will Soon Allow Skype Calls

Skype is going to become available for iPhone users very soon, according to industry reports. At present, Skype users are only able to make Skype to Skype calls and Skype out-calls by way of Wi-Fi only, however soon it’ll be possible to get this done over the 3G network, too.

A member of Skype’s iPhone Staff, David Ponsford, has confirmed this new service will be on its way soon. The decision has come about due to the fact that Apple have altered the terms of use for developers, like Skype. Work behind the scenes has been undertaken by Skype for the new application to try to make this work.

The Skype iPhone team have added in, a call quality indicator, where you have a green, yellow or red light to signal the present 3G network coverage strength or Wi-Fi connection. iPhone 3G and iPod Touch users can also enjoy CD like sound quality which is another improvement being made via the new software program.

This Skype calling over 3G networks – is going to be provided by the Apple store very soon.

O2 To Improve 3G UK Coverage With Extra 1500 Mobile Network Sites

O2 NetworkO2 mobile customers with internet-enabled smartphones such as the Apple iPhone 3GS and the Palm Pre will soon benefit from a improved network coverage, as O2 have confirmed plans to build 1,500 new mobile network sites across the UK in 2010.

This is welcome news to O2 mobile customers that struggle to get a decent 3G signal in parts of the UK. Despite O2 having had exclusivity for the last two years on the Apple iPhone 3G S, Ofcom 3G coverage maps published earlier this year suggested O2 had less extensive 3G mobile coverage across the UK than mobile rivals such as 3 and Orange – who also now have the iPhone. O2, will see this step as vital in staying at the front of the game as the smartphone market heats up and 3G coverage and reliability become ever more important.
